Copiously-illustrated study of this traditional form of domestic architecture of Central Asia extensively found in the old city of Kashgar in China's Xinjiang province. The 'terraced' of the title refers to the roof terraces (often covered) of the buildings, designed and used to maximize the cool of the evening and cooling breezes.
