Chikanobu was one of the most popular ukiyo-e print artists of the 1880s and 1890s. He used the medium to document the rapid change taking place in Tokyo but also recorded traditional customs and lifestyles. Provides a well-illustrated overview of Chikanobu's career and also serves as the catalogue to a travelling exhibition at Scripps College in Claremont, California and elsewhere.
