Many such fine sutra covers were produced at this time, not least due to the patronage of the Dowager Empress Li, mother of the Wan Li Emperor. The Philadelphia collection is exceptional and this is a fine illustrated catalogue showing many excellent examples. All illustrated in colour and described in detail.
