The first comprehensive documentation of the discovery and excavation of the tomb of King Murong Zhi of the Tang dynasty feudal Tuyuhun kingdom located in China's Gansu province. The tomb and that of the Tuyuhun royal cemetery is located south-west of Xuwei in Gansu. This intact tomb yielded over 800 artifacts, many of a high quality. Included interesting tomb figurines, amongst which fine painted wooden figurines, and gold and silver items. Of particular note, however, was the extensive amount of textiles retrieved from the tomb, a good number of which are illustrated here. Very rare survivals, a number bearing central Asian motifs and showing other cross-cultural influences. Illustrated throughout in colour, Text in Chinese.
