In spite of its shortcomings, this book is the most considerable study of ancient jades in the Chinese language; it did make some reasonable identifications and gave valuable stimulus to further investigations.
 Written by a famous late 19th century scholar-official and connoisseur, Wu Dacheng, who came from a wealthy family in Suzhou with a tradition of collecting. This four-volume edition is an early lithographic reprint based on the 1889 edition. In Chinese only. Bookplates of Cheng Te-k'un Library. Scarce.
