A late Qing four-volume painting album depicting human figures. Compiled by Wang Chi. Yuxiu Tang is presumably Wang Chi's studio name. The four volumes depict Taoist and Buddhist worthies, literary figures and famous beauties. Each person illustrated in a full page image has an accompanying page of biographical text. The work seems to be elusive and has only been found in one catalogue. The copy is complete, very clean and contained in a decorated cotton tao. Printed at the famous Dianshizhai lithography house based in Shanghai and renowned for the exquisite quality and detail of its illustrated works. Published by Shenbao Guan. All text in Chinese. A fine copy of a rare work.
