Catalogue of an exhibition that highlighted and explored the Umi-Mori Art Museum's very fine and extensive collection of 18th and 19th century Suzhou 'Gusu' prints - a very distinct and interesting genre that demonstrates western influences. 305 prints were exhibited in two sessions. The exhibition divided into eight sections mainly by print subject matter; Legends, Historical Events and Literary Tales; Deities and Saints; Auspicious Symbols and Characters etc. One section (7) focusses on the transmission of Chinese Prints to Japan. Illustrated throughout. Foreword, list of contents and very brief captions to illustrations in English. Main text in Japanese. An important contribution to the subject.
