A fascinating and worthy period Shanghai publication that contains many interesting and unique contributions to subjects relating to Chinese culture, arts, nature and science. In addition, this journal very much captures the flavour of Shanghai at the time with numerous advertisements giving an insight into expatriate life and concerns. Six volumes per year were published with the sole exception of Volume 3 which had 12 issues. A near to complete run from 1923 - 36 comprising vols. 1-25 inclusive and a total of 144 issues. Lacking Vol. 8:5, Vol. 10:5, Vol. 11:5, Vol. 12:1, Vol. 13:4&6 and Vol. 16:1-6. Together with the index supplements for volumes 1-3, 5-18, 20, 22, 25-27. Very rare.
