Large and weighty two-volume catalogue produced to commemorate an exceptional and truly memorable exhibition held at Qinghua University Art Museum in Beijing in 2023. Shows many fine, indeed extraordinary, ancient pieces of gold, silver and metalwork from sites along the length and breadth of the Silk Road. Many of the exhibits demonstrating cross-cultural influences. Exhibits range from objects from the period of Alexander the Great on through Mesopotamian, Bactrian, Sassanian, Kushan, Inner Mongolia, the Steppes and much Chinese material. The exhibits come from museums in China together with many loans from the Ikuo Hirayama Collection in Japan. All exhibits illustrated in colour an fully described. Detailed essays accompany.
