Slightly reduced-format reprint of the famous and highly-regarded Song woodblock printed edition of the pre-Qin poetry classic attributed to Qu Yuan. This Song edition was edited and annotated by the Song neo-Confucian philosopher, Zhu Xi. In addition to the Chu Ci, also contains various related works. It was first published in 1235.
  The work has been superbly translated into English by David Hawkes as 'The Songs of the South'.
 This 1953 edition was published by the Renmin Wenxue Chubanshe (Peoples Literary Publishing House) in Beijing. Four page postscript by Zheng Zhenduo on the publishing history and significance of the work A very pleasing object with a fine and strong Song font. In fine condition. Rare.
