Catalogue of a major travelling exhibition on the work of the Rimpa master, Kamisaka Sekka (1866 -1942). From the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, the exhibition travelled to the Sakura City Museum of Art and then to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Birmingham Museum of Art, Alabama. Kamisaka Sekka was active in both painting and crafts. This fine catalogue show many examples of his paintings along with beautiful screens, lacquer work, painting on ceramics. 274 exhibits are shown from both Japanese and western public and private collections. Illustrated throughout in colour and with a near dual Japanese and English text. Note that this catalogue contains material that did not travel to the US venues. Out-of-print.
