ZZMSZ3 MAWEI SONG ZHONGZI. (Seeds of the Masson Pine). 馬尾松種子. Beijing, n.d. (1970s) Paper booklet, title slide plus 36 colour lantern slides. 8x10 cm. Paper plus loose slides. GBP 90.00 A set of 36 colour lantern slides contained in a cardboard box. Not dated but from the early-mid 1970s. The explanatory slip pasted on the box gives a synopsis of the story. Children from the Huixing Girls Middle School in Hangzhou go to West Lake to gather seeds of the Masson pine to give to naval border protection forces to take to newly-liberated coastal islands and there plant them. By doing this the naval forces will realise the wishes and hopes of these young girls. The accompanying paper booklet has numbered text to be read out whilst the corresponding lantern slide is projected. Presumably meant as politically-approved visual entertainment in the 1970s during the Cultural Revolution. Such lantern slide presentations were popular entertainment at the time in both cities and rural areas. Booklet in Chinese. A complete set. The final slide 36 has a horizontal split across. Unusual and very scarce. Subjects: Propaganda Item 458 in List 211. URL for this record: hanshan.com/?m/ZZMSZ3.HTM Record produced by Hanshan Tang Books, www.hanshan.com. |
