Describes and illustrates a large number of artefacts from Yuanmingyuan, the destroyed Old Summer Palace in Beijing, that are held in collections in China and abroad. Ranges from stone lions, architectural remnants and stonework from the European palaces through to the famous bronze heads from the zodiac fountain and numerous examples of works of art - ceramics, bronzes and paintings. The ceramics include a good showing of the pieces bought by Alfred Morrison which comprise the famous Fonthill Heirlooms. The artefacts are arranged by geographical location - China and then various countries abroad. illustrated throughout in colour. Text in Chinese. A fascinating survey of these scattered treasures.
