Stitched. GBP 500.00 A compilation of historical documents pertaining to the ancient Chinese Zhou dynasty (1046-771 BC). The core of the work was first compiled in the fourth century BC and expanded at various times thereafter. It has long been believed to be of dubious historical accuracy and is excluded from the official 'Twenty-Four Histories'. This pleasing and well-printed woodblock edition is from the well-known Zhifu Zhai historical collectanea published during the Guangxu reign and comprises the first part of the collectanea. It is complete in 10 juan plus an appendix. The preface gives a date of Guangxu 22 (1896). Published at Shunde, now part of present-day Guangzhou, by Long Fengbiao, who also wrote the preface. Two volumes bound in one. Chinese text. Later paper covers protect the original covers. From the library of the eminent Max Loehr. Some pencil annotations in his hand. Generally in fine condition.
