ZZHG01 HAMONIKA GAKUFU. (Music Scores for the Harmonica). ハ一モニカ樂譜. Tokyo, 1923-1935. 65 music scores, generally 2 pp. each. 65 vols. 26x19 cm. Paper. Decorative covers. GBP 1,950.00 Sixty-five Japanese music scores for the harmonica dating from the Taisho and Showa reigns with distinctive printed covers, a good number in an art nouveau style. Apparently the harmonica was hugely popular during the Taisho reign and into Showa and these scores demonstrate that popularity. It is also apparent that western music was highly popular at that time as many of the scores are for western songs. Generally in good condition, occasional soiling chipping and small tears. A couple of small tape repairs. In Japanese. A rare assemblage of a distinct and focussed group of decorative designs. Subjects: Music Design Item 436 in List 206.
