Peiping, 1929. 1 pp. list of plates and 80 pp. b/w plates with photographic illustrations, many full page. 13x19 cm. Stitched decorative cover. Cord ties GBP 300.00 A pleasing and very rare photographic work of views, sights and scene taken in and and around Peking in the mid-late 1920s. The work was produced by a Japanese photographic studio with offices in Peking and Tianjin. The compilation is noteworthy in that there are a good number of lesser-known sites, rather than just the usual major sights - although some of these are shown too. Also of interest in that there are a good number of pictures of people. The cover is the work is also most appealing, with sketch scenes of a part of the city wall of Peking and a gate and also a gentleman in traditional attire holding a birdcage. Captions in Chinese/Japanese kanji. Brief descriptions in Japanese. Mint copy. As new. Very rare. The first time we have seen this work. Subjects: Beijing Photography Item 22 in List 209.
