GBP 120.00 An interesting and pleasing, indeed literati scholar's studio, work on the Yixing zisha (purple clay) teapots which bear highly-skilled and detailed carving done by the modern Chinese master of carving, Xu Bingfang. Xu is best known for his bamboo carving. Here is an interesting and well-executed manifestation of his skills in another medium. This work starts with 14 pages of introductory text, then illustration of a couple of examples of Xu's bamboo carving using the liuqing technique. Then follow numerous examples of fine modern yixing teapots accompanied by rubbings of the carvings done by Xu on the bodies of the teapots. Illustrated throughout. Text in Chinese.
