GBP 200.00 Pleasing Shanghai Republic facsimile edition of an early record of Chinese painters and paintings by Guo Ruxu, a biographer and writer on art history who lived in the Northern Song dynasty. This text was translated by Alexander Soper into English under title 'Kuo Jo-Hsu's Experiences in Painting', Washington, 1951. This is a fine Hanfenlou edition based on a very rare Song printed edition with additional Yuan dynasty manuscript additions. Held in a famous literati collection in Changshu, the Tieqin Tongjian Lou. In a reduced format but very nicely reproduced. All text in Chinese. Very scarce. Sibu Zonglu Yishubian, 303.
