GBP 130.00 Catalogue of an exhibition at the Gugong Museum in Beijing on the work and enduring cultural legacy of the revered Song dynasty poet, calligrapher, painter and aesthete, Su Shi (Su Dongpo), who lived from 1037-1101 AD. An event that attracted huge crowds and much acclaim. The extraordinary artefacts on show ranged from Song calligraphy by Su Shi and other scholars and poets active at the time through to rubbings, epigraphy, documents and rare texts. Also included were Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasty paintings and calligraphy reflecting Su Shi's life and objects in other media depicting the poet. A total of 78 superb and rare exhibits. The exhibition in four sections: A Legend Among His Peers; The Painterly Writer; The Natural Calligrapher; The Model Literatus.
