Yogaku Koyo 3 vols., Fujo Kan 3 vols., Kanbun kai one vol. An interesting insight into the moral standards of Meiji Japan. The work is enhanced by a good number of double-page black-and-white lithographic illustrations. The illustrations in Fujo Kan (Model Examples for Women) are of particular note and interest as some of the stories and examples appear to have come from western sources, evidenced by the western men and women who appear in accompanying illustrations. Yogaku Koyo dated Meiji 14 (1881). Fujo Kan dated Meiji 20 (1887). Kanbun Kai undated but uniform and contemporary with the other volumes. All text in Japanese. Vols. 1-6 (Yogaku Koyo and Fujo Kan) in fine condition. Slight waterstain to top margin of the final Kanbun Kai volume not intruding into the text. Rare. Subjects: Education Item 349 in List 212.
