Catalogue (published later) of an exhibition held in 2018 at the Dunhuang Research Institute comprising 185 loans of ancient glass objects from the collection of the Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Gallery in Japan. The exhibits come from the Roman empire, eastern Mediterranean and on into Iran and including Achamaeid and Sassanian examples. The objects range in date from the 14th century BC through to the 12th century AD. There are extensive amounts of eastern Mediterranean Roman material and Iranian examples. There are also, curiously a number of very early north American examples, perhaps included for purposes of comparison. All illustrated in colour and described. Captions in English. Main text in Chinese. Very hard to obtain.
