The first comprehensive survey of the highly-important cultural relics and heritage of the Buddhist site of Wutaishan in China's Shanxi province. These five volumes focus on murals and wall paintings. Includes the extremely rare and important Tang dynasty murals and paintings in the miraculously-surviving Tang dynasty Foguang Temple, the Jin dynasty murals in Yanshan Temple, the very fine and extensive Ming dynasty mural paintings in Gongzhu Temple plus extensive amounts of other other early, Ming, Qing and early 20th century murals and wall paintings within these and numerous other religious sites in this famous and, until recently, remote Buddhist complex. Many of the murals and paintings systematically photographed for the first time. Illustrated throughout in colour and well described. Of much value for the study of Buddhist art in China. Text in Chinese. Very hard to obtain.
