BUNGY1
Bunker, Emma & Brosseder, Ursula: THE GUYUAN MIZONG COLLECTION. A Study of Inner Asian Steppe Bronzes. 古原覓蹤. Wiesbaden, 2022. 541 pp. Colour plates throughout. 27x22 cm. Cloth.
GBP 148.00
Illustrates and describes a very choice privately-held collection of 179 examples of ancient inner Asian steppe bronzes (often known as Ordos bronzes) of varied shapes and forms. The collection has been carefully assembled with a discerning eye over a number of decades. The collection has benefited from the assistance and guidance of the late Emma Bunker, a rigourous scholar, and this book written in a joint collaboration with Ursula Brosseder. The result is a worthy and erudite addition to the literature on these enigmatic bronzes. All 179 examples (some comprising groups of objects) are illustrated in front and rear views and described in detail. They date from the 13th century BC through to the first century AD. Useful and interesting essays and contributions accompany.
Subjects: Bronzes
