THE ASIATIC JOURNAL AND MONTHLY MISCELLANY VOL II: THIRD SERIES

BLNPXX
BULLETIN OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF PEIPING. Beiping Tushuguan Yuekan. 北平圖書館月刊. Peking, 1928-1936. Various paginations, typically c.100+ pp per volume. A few b/w collotype illustrations to each volume. 53 vols. 24x17 cm. Boards and paper.
GBP 700.00
A complete run of Volumes 1-10 of this late 1920s and 1930s periodical, generally published in 6 volumes per year from 1928-1936 inclusive. There is mention of a first volume of Volume 11 from early 1937 - not present here. The journal ceased publication in 1937, presumably due to Japanese incursion. The journal draws on the superb collections of the National Library. Each volume contains a number of articles on Chinese rare books plus contributions on central Asian including the Silk Road in China and Dunhuang. Much on very early printing and documents. A few black-and-white collotype illustrations to most volumes. List of contents in English on covers, plus a few initial pages of notes and remarks in English too. Main text in Chinese. Very scarce.
The six volumes of Volume One are bound together in hardback. Volumes 2-10 are paperback, typically six editions per year. On a couple of occasions, two editions have been produced in one volume. A total of 52 paperback volumes. The physical total with Volume One in hardback is 53 volumes.
