BAONK1
Bao Ding: NIEYI KAOSHI. (Study of the Nie Vessels). N.p., 1929. 10 pp. text on 5 folded leaves plus 5 full page b/w plates, of which 2 folding. 33x23 cm. Stitched.
GBP 50.00
A study of inscriptions on the ancient Chinese 'Nie' bronzes which seem to be Zhou dynasty bronzes probably connected with the son of a Zhou Duke called Nie Ling. We can find little information about them. The two foldout plates show black-and-white rubbing-style illustrations of two bronzes in their entirety, the other three plates reproduce rubbings of inscriptions on the bronzes. In Chinese. Rare.
From the library of Professor Max Loehr with a few notes in pencil in his hand in the top margins. Slight wear and loss to covers, some foxing inside but generally clean. Tear across one fold of one of the foldout plates.
Subjects: Bronzes Inscriptions
