A terrific compilation of hundreds of old postcards of Shanghai mostly taken between 1900 and 1925 which gives a great flavour of how Shanghai was. Split into sections on: The Bund, Nanking Road, Whampo River and Gardens, Soo Chow Creek, Transportation, Streets and Buildings, Hotel, Residents and Markets, Old China City and Loong Wau (Longhua) Pagoda, Customs and Personage, All Walks of Life. Although the text is in Chines, the majority of the postcards have location or subject written in English (or another European language). Recommended.
