Shows highlights of the Yili Museum located in the north of Xinjiang province in China. The area was an ancient crossroads for the nomadic and steppe cultures and this is reflected in the objects in the Museum's collection. There is much very early material but, probably of most interest, are the early textiles, bronzes and gold objects discovered at archaeological sites in the area. Illustrated throughout in colour.
