Eleven accounts of early recorded travels in western China along the Silk Road. The first is that of the Northern Wei Buddhist monk, Song Yun, and then continues with Tang, Song and Yuan dynasty accounts, the majority little-known. The original texts are reproduced, accompanied by extensive commentary. All very interesting and giving details of sites and towns along the Silk Road, such as Turfan and Anxi. Text in Chinese.
