Catalogue of an exhibition at the Shanghai Museum showing a formidable selection of 163 excellent and unusual examples of Ming and Qing dynasty export porcelain loaned from the (post-1949) collection of the Gugong Museum in Beijing, together with examples from the Shanghai Museum collection. The exhibition aimed to trace the evolution of the Chinese ceramic trade during the Ming and Qing. In two sections. The Ming section (62 pieces) includes wares for Southeast Asia, West Asia, Japan and Europe from the mid and late Ming dynasty. Demonstrates the diverse demand and tastes of these different markets. The Qing section (101 exhibits) comprises mainly porcelain for the Europe and America markets and includes armorial porcelain. Practically all the objects shown in multiple views including bases.
