Catalogue of an exhibition at the National Museum of History in Taibei and then the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts showing art and artefacts from the Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang. The exhibition comprised loans from the Musee Guimet of paintings and scrolls, copies of Dunhuang mural wall paintings plus original artefacts loaned by the Dunhuang Academy, loans from the National Palace Museum of Dunhuang mural paintings by Zhang Daqian, plus loans from other Taiwan collections including reproductions of ancient musical instruments featured in mural paintings. The exhibition provided a cross-section of Dunhuang art and artefacts found at the site. Well-illustrated and with an interesting selection of essays including the Pelliot Mission. Dual texts in Chinese, French and English.
