The vast majority of the material exhibited comes from the holdings of the Meishuguan which, as the foremost official art gallery in China, holds an unparalleled collection of material from this period. In addition to the more traditional works shown in the traditional Chinese painting section, there is a large amount of propaganda paintings, prints and posters.
