Good two-volume facsimile of a Qing dynasty 1887 lithographic reproduction of the 1745 original. The work contains forty poems about the summer palace of Yuanmingyuan near Peking written by the Qianlong emperor (Gaozong) in imitation of an earlier work by the Kangxi emperor on the Summer resort at Chengde. Each poem is accompanied by a foldout view depicting a scene at Yuanmingyuan. A pleasing imperial production combining poetry with the depiction of landscapes. Also a historical record of how parts of these destroyed gardens and their buildings looked in the mid-18th century. In Chinese
