Interesting work drawing on the collections of the Gugong Museum in Beijing and, indeed, on halls and venues within the Forbidden City. Examines the culture, traditions and rituals relating to the receiving and entertaining of guests and visitors. Illustrated throughout with pictures of palace and hall interiors and with numerous objects (primarily paintings) depicting relevant scenes of receiving guests and their entertainment. Obviously, given the Gugong connection, this is such culture and ritual at a high level. It is unclear whether this work accompanied an exhibition. In Chinese.
