An in-depth study of early 20th century Chinese painting (going through to the 1940s/1950s), based on an exhibition in 2006 at the Gugong Museum in Beijing showing masterpieces from the museum's extensive holdings in the Gugong Museum. A total of 190 paintings were shown, divided into sections on the Shanghai School, the Beijing School, the Lingnan School and works by various other masters.
