Shows 81 superb examples of Chinese ceramics bearing 'Shendetang' base marks. Shendetang was the preferred residence in Yuanmingyuan of the Daoguang Emperor (reigned 1820-1850) and all but 4 of the ceramics date from the Daoguang reign, the remaining four being Guangxu and Republic period imitations. All the ceramics are held in the collection of the Gugong Museum in the Forbidden City in Beijing and many are from the former imperial collection. Illustrated throughout in colour.
