279 superb examples of textiles and embroidery from the collection of the Gugong Museum in Beijing. 178 textiles are shown, the vast majority from the Qing Court collection. Includes exquisite tapestry material from which formal dress and gowns were made but the majority of the textiles are wonderful brocades, satins, gauze and sutra covers. This is followed by 101 stunning examples of embroidery, the vast majority again from the Qing Court collection. Includes embroidered pictures, scrolls, album leaves and embroidered textiles.
