Volume 24 in this excellent series covering the treasures of the Gugong Museum shows 137 examples of albums of rubbings of famous and highly-regarded examples of Chinese calligraphy held in the collection. The rubbings and albums date from the Song, Ming and Qing dynasties. The stones and calligraphic inscriptions from which the rubbings were taken are in many cases much older. Such calligraphic inscriptions were used as models for aspiring calligraphers to emulate. Captions in English, otherwise Chinese text.
