Catalogue of an (it appears delayed until 2021) exhibition held at the Gugong Palace Museum in Beijing showing 93 wonderful paintings, handscrolls and albums depicting human figures in various settings. Includes paintings from earliest times through to the Qing dynasty, both famous and little-known. Includes work attributed to Gu Kaizhi, beautiful Song material and a strong showing of excellent Ming and Qing works. All held in the Gugong Palace Museum in the Forbidden City. The exhibition and catalogue divided into thematic sections including; traditional rituals, ceremonies and instructive behaviour (e.g. virtuous woman); Elegance beneath the Trees (literati life); traditional customs; banquets etc. All the paintings illustrated in their entirety and many showing sections and close-up detail.
