A good and well-illustrated contribution on a little-published subject, carpets and rugs from the halls and palaces of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Ranges from Central Asian and Khotan rugs through to imperial carpets with yellow grounds and bearing designs of dragons. Also includes carpets and rugs with woven pictorial scenes and auspicious designs. The rugs are illustrated in their entirety and some with close-up detail of the design. Practically all the rugs are from the early and middle Qing dynasty. A useful visual reference. Text in Chinese.
