Reproduces 143 of the best painted scrolls brought back from Dunhuang by Aurel Stein and held in the National Museum, New Delhi. Stein's finds were split between the British Museum in London and the now National Museum in New Delhi. Whilst the British Museum holdings have been published, the Delhi holdings are little-known and this book is most welcome. Illustrated throughout in colour and with good introductory texts and descriptions of the paintings.
